Catherine Christman

Catherine Christman has over 30 years of experience in media relations, marketing and television production. During her career, she has headed up the Communications Departments of both the NBC and Fox flagship stations in New York City–WNBC and WNYW respectively. In addition, she was vice president of Communications for the extensive public television and radio network in South Carolina (comprised of 11 television and eight radio stations). Her most recent accomplishments include creating the groundbreaking Winthrop/ETV Polls that have garnered widespread media attention from AP and CNN, to Time Magazine, The New York Times, The LA Times and politico.com to huffingtonpost.com. To date, the polls have received publicity with an equivalent worth of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Christman also brokered a novel partnership with the McClatchy newspaper chain, resulting in extensive national coverage for the polls. She also created and executive-produced special, high-visibility programming including a Mother’s Day Special starring the mothers of Stephen Colbert and Kristin “Sex and the City” Davis. As part of the media strategy to grow viewership, she facilitated the placement of Colbert’s special tribute to his mom on “Entertainment Tonight.” Her personal commitment to publicizing a benefit run held in recognition of her firefighter cousin, killed on 9/11, has won key placements in media outlets from “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams,” to NPR’s “All Things Considered.” Her body of work also includes producing both live and taped programming for CNBC. While at WNBC, Christman received an Emmy nomination for writing, and was named “Employee of the Year.” She graduated from Hunter College in New York, with a B.A. degree magna cum laude.
